Job summary

Velociti is seeking a Bridge Tender to operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses to facilitate safe marine passage. You will monitor openings, maintain logs, and ensure pedestrian and vehicle traffic safety while coordinating with supervision.

The role requires reading FDOT and U.S. Coast Guard manuals, is on-site, and includes safety-focused responsibilities and documentation duties. A valid driver’s license and a minimum age of 18 are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Able to read and comprehend FDOT and U.S. Coast Guard manuals.
• Must maintain logs in accurate, legible English.
• Valid Driver's License.
• 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Operate bridges, tend canals, locks, lighthouses to permit marine passage.
• Ensure safety of maintenance personnel and pedestrians.
• Inform supervisor of incidents, malfunctions, and accidents.
• Write and submit maintenance work requisitions.
• Check bridges are clear before openings and control gates accordingly.
• Raise drawbridges, observe water traffic, then lower gates and bridges.
