Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking Bridge & Structures Project Managers to lead pursuit, design, and delivery of complex bridge projects in Northern California and the Central Valley.

Role involves client development, multidisciplinary team leadership, and PM from proposal through construction. Requires PE license, 12+ years in bridge design and PM, and willingness to travel within CA. Flexible work environment with regional bases.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering is required; M.S. in Structural Engineering preferred.
• California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in bridge/structural design and PM.
• Based in Northern California or Central Valley with travel depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge and structural engineering projects from pursuit through construction, including proposals, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, agencies, and teaming partners across Northern and Central California.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders.
• Supervise engineers in preparing PS&E packages, reports, calculations, and documentation.
• Perform and review bridge analysis and design using bridge finite element/section analysis tools.
• Ensure compliance with AASHTO LRFD, seismic design requirements, and codes.
• Provide construction support, site visits, RFIs, and review of shop drawings/submittals.
• Lead bridge inspection and maintenance projects as applicable.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally to clients and peers.
• Manage schedules, budgets, workloads, and performance metrics across multiple projects.
