Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Structural Project Engineer II to lead design and inspection efforts in Chicago. The role requires independent computations, client liaison, and coordination with project teams.

The ideal candidate has experience in bridges and other structures, PE/SE licensure, and proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads/Bridge, STAAD and related software. relocation is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• 4–10 years of experience in structural engineering, including bridges, roadways, marinas, or ports.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) licensure.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Bluebeam and CAD/engineering automation tools.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoads/Bridge; STAAD and BrR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs engineering computations following standard practices.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design instructions.
• Review, analyze, and resolve field and design issues; prepare plans or reports.
• Direct and supervise engineers, drafters, and staff; coordinate project schedules and budgets.
• Maintain safety training and ensure health and safety practices are observed.
• Liaise with clients and government agencies; attend meetings outside normal hours.
