Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. invites applications for an Entry-Level Engineer in Illinois to join our Structural Inspection Group. You will assist with bridge and transportation inspections, condition assessments, and report preparation, with mentoring from seasoned engineers in office and field settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Interest in bridge and structural inspection, field work, and transportation infrastructure.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of bridges and transportation structures under supervision by licensed engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of inspection, evaluation, and condition assessment reports.
• Document field observations, measurements, and photographs per agency and inspection standards.
• Review structure plans, load ratings, and previous inspection records to aid in inspection and assessment efforts.
• Use computer-assisted engineering and inspection software to prepare exhibits, sketches, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with draftspersons/technicians on figures, data entry, and report preparation.
• Limited communication with clients and agency representatives regarding inspection activities and findings.
• Field work may include nights, weekends, travel, and working at heights or over traffic and water.
