Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers seeks a Summer 2027 Bridge Structural Engineering Intern in Spokane, WA. This on-site internship involves collaborating with our Civil/Structural Team on infrastructure projects, from feasibility through construction support.

You will assist experienced engineers, perform calculations, use design software, and observe field conditions to contribute to real projects while gaining professional mentoring and career growth opportunities within KPFF’s practice.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited BSCE/MSCE degree in civil engineering.
• Two or more design courses (concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) completed by start of 2027 internship.
• Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desire for continued learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers in solving complex engineering problems and executing project goals.
• Support engineers and CAD staff with design-related tasks such as calculations, plan production and review.
• Utilizing engineering and design software to contribute to project development.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and active construction.
• Apply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.
• Build familiarity in navigating federal, state, and local regulations, while aligning with KPFF’s and our clients’ standards and practices.
• Thrive in a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative team environment that values creativity, curiosity, and excellence.
