Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Bridge Structural Engineer to join our Illinois offices. The role focuses on bridge and retaining wall design, with project work across transportation and federal/state/local agencies, in a collaborative team environment.

Candidates should have a B.S. in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of structural design experience, travel ability within Illinois, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design experience.
• Willingness to travel within Illinois service areas.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge and retaining wall plans following IDOT, Tollway and AASHTO standards.
• Lead or assist Phase I/II projects for various clients.
• Perform structural studies across multiple states.
• Provide general structural engineering services including inspections and reviews.
