Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Bridge Structural Engineer to join our Illinois offices. You will design bridges and retaining walls on transportation projects, collaborating with our multidisciplinary teams across state lines and agencies.

The role emphasizes field and office work, travel across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas, and compliance with IDOT, Tollway, and AASHTO standards. A BS in civil engineering and 5+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years of structural engineering design experience.
• Ability to travel within Illinois service areas.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills.
• Team-oriented with independent task handling.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge and retaining wall plans following IDOT, Tollway and AASHTO standards.
• Contribute to IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects.
• Lead or assist structural studies across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas.
• Provide general structural engineering services including inspections, evaluations and plan reviews.
