Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Bridge Structural Engineer to work across Illinois offices with hybrid or remote options. The role focuses on bridge and retaining wall design, inspections, and coordination with state, county, and local agencies on transportation projects.

You will collaborate with Construction and Design-Build groups, travel within Illinois, and contribute to a team-driven environment that emphasizes professional growth and client service.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience completing Structural Engineering design plans and studies.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
• Team-first culture that encourages development and goals achievement.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge and retaining wall plans following IDOT, Illinois Tollway, other state DOT, and AASHTO standards.
• Lead or assist with IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for various clients.
• Lead or assist with structural engineering studies in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas.
• Provide general structural engineering services including inspections, evaluation reports, and plan reviews.
