Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Bridge Structural Engineer to join our Illinois offices. This role focuses on bridge and retaining wall design on transportation projects across our national service area, collaborating with Construction and Design-Build groups and coordinating with state, county, and local agencies.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in structural engineering design, the ability to travel within Illinois, and strong report-writing skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering design and studies.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle multiple ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge and retaining wall plans following IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and AASHTO standards.
• Lead or assist with IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects.
• Lead or assist structural engineering studies in IL, WI, FL, and TX.
• Provide general structural engineering services including inspections, evaluation reports, and plan reviews.
