WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge/Structural Engineer for our Baltimore, MD, office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Perform professional bridge/structural engineering work including:
    • Development and drafting of plans and details using CAD software for project design documents.
    • Field inspection and condition assessment of bridges, sign structures, culverts and retaining walls.
    • Preparation of quantity and cost estimates.
    • Preparation of structural analysis and design calculations.
    • Review of drawings to assure compliance with design intent and specifications.
    • Assisting more experienced engineers with broader engineering activities.
    • Preparation of technical studies, reports, and design document packages.
  2. Participate in incorporating advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to ensure safety and functionality.
  3. Verify site characteristics, providing technical assistance on structural soundness from environmental or human influences.
  4. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and 2D/3D illustrations.
  5. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  6. Complete training on assigned tasks.
  7. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  8. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  2. 3-5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.
  3. Engineer in Training Certification.
  4. Knowledge of engineering analysis, design, and practices, including rehabilitation and new design.
  5. Knowledge of process and concepts for design/build.
  6. Knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  7. Effective communication skills for interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  8. Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization.
  9. Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  10. Proficiency with technical writing and relevant software tools.
  11. Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, LEAP Bridge, LARSA, STAAD Pro, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR).
  12. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies.
  13. Availability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  14. Ability to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Professional Engineering License.
  2. Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  3. Relevant experience through internships, projects, or studies.
  4. Participation in professional organizations.
