Job summary

The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia is seeking a Bridge Kitchen Assistant to support daily meals for community members experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing ingredients, serving meals, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness in a respectful, supportive environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, ServSafe certification, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. This part-time, non-exempt position is based at 434 S Woodland Blvd, Deland, FL.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications: ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
• Basic first aid/CPR/AED training encouraged.
• DCF Security Awareness and Foundations of Disability Rights training.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: follow recipes, portion control, prep ingredients according to standards.
• Meals and Service: serve meals cafeteria-style, maintain courteous demeanor.
• Hygiene/Sanitation: wash dishes, mop floors, manage cleanliness and safety.
• Labeling and pantry: label cooked foods, organize dry goods and kitchen equipment.
• Volunteer supervision: guide community volunteers and report safety concerns.
