Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) seeks a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering Department in Camden or Wall Township, NJ. The role focuses on monitoring field activities for New Jersey bridge and roadway projects, documenting progress, and ensuring work meets contract documents, plans, and standards.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of construction inspection experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to read engineering plans.

Qualifications

• Two years of construction inspection or observation experience, preferably on bridge/roadway projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work with contractors, Project Managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction inspection and observation on New Jersey-based bridge and roadway projects.
• Monitor daily contractor operations to ensure work aligns with contract documents, plans, specs, and standards.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports with site conditions, quantities, workforce, equipment, and progress.
• Assist with review and verification of project quantities and cost estimates.
• Review project submittals and other construction documentation as directed by PMs and engineers.
• Coordinate with PMs and project team on progress, field conditions, and issues.
• Communicate with contractors, clients, agencies, and stakeholders about field activities and requirements.
• Maintain organized project files, inspection reports, photographs, and correspondence.
• Document construction progress through photos and field observations.
• Monitor contractor adherence to schedules and flag delays or issues to PM.
• Travel to project sites across New Jersey as required.
• Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final inspections.
