Job summary

The Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Repairer/General Laborer to perform carpentry, building and repair work in support of bridge construction and maintenance across the state. The position is full-time and on-site in Searcy, AR, with extensive travel requirements.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass CDL testing within set timeframes; pre-employment drug/alcohol screening is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public.
• Understand highway traffic signs and signals in English.
• Respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records.
• General construction background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build forms and finish concrete for bridges, culverts, etc.
• Build and repair bridges.
• Remove snow and ice during inclement weather.
• Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, chemicals, etc.
