Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Bridge Department at our Wall Township, NJ headquarters. This role focuses on design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects across New Jersey, including bridge rehabilitation and replacement, working with multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience from preliminary design through construction support, with mentorship and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 5 to 8 years of progressive bridge design and structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with bridge analysis and design software is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and NJDOT procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridge and transportation structures.
• Prepare calculations, design plans, technical reports, and specifications.
• Develop structural models using LEAP, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, or STAAD.
• Assist with load rating analyses and structural evaluations.
• Coordinate design activities and schedules with multidisciplinary teams.
• Apply relevant design specifications and agency requirements.
• Participate in field visits, inspections, and data collection.
• Support senior engineers with mentoring and technical guidance.
• Assist with proposals, cost estimating, and business development.
