Job summary

The Utah Department of Transportation seeks a Structures Project Engineer for Bridge Preservation to manage planning, design, construction oversight, budget and schedule for all preservation projects.

You will lead project delivery, provide technical expertise for structural designs and specifications, oversee standards and processes, and collaborate with divisions and external partners to ensure safe, reliable bridges.

Qualifications

The role requires PE licensure in Utah.
Out-of-state licenses must obtain Utah reciprocity before start date.
Minimum of two years of professional engineering experience after PE licensure.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage project delivery for the bridge preservation program.
Provide technical expertise for structural designs and the development of structures plans and specifications.
Oversee the development of and revisions to standards, specifications, typical details, manuals and processes.
Provide support to construction teams on bridge preservation related items.
Collaborate to develop solutions and provide recommendations to address construction issues.
Serve as liaison with other divisions, agencies, and external industries.
Set goals, priorities and make management decisions for the Structures Division.
Participate in selecting consulting engineers and managing consultant resources.
Monitor and evaluate programs and processes for quality and improvement.
