Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, invites applications for an Assistant Transportation Specialist in the Bridge Management Section. Under supervision, you will support the initial implementation and data verification of AASHTOWare BrM, maintain bridge inventories, and assist with condition tracking and asset documentation.

You will perform basic engineering analysis, help prioritize structures for rehabilitation, and coordinate with inspection staff.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• HS diploma with 4 years of relevant technical work, or an equivalent combination.
• Familiarity with BrM, GIS, and asset management concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with BrM data entry, documentation updates, and quality control.
• Review bridge inventory and inspection data to support compliance.
• Perform basic load rating inputs and preliminary structural evaluations under supervision.
• Support prioritization lists and background materials for capital projects.
• Coordinate with Inspection Management, Load Rating, and field staff.
