Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to support the ongoing management of movable bridges and related structures. You will perform engineering project management and field work, conducting inspections, responding to emergencies, and preparing reports under supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining movable bridge electro-mechanical systems, supervising PM activities, and supporting in-house teams and contractors

Qualifications

• Requires a baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics with related experience.
• Engineering technology degree with three years of experience accepted.
• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics also accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering project management and field work under supervision.
• Conduct flag repair work, field visits, inspections and respond to emergencies.
• Complete reports and assist in office tasks; maintain movable bridges and perform PM on bridgedecks and electro-mechanical systems.
