Job summary

State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on bridges and related structures at our Jacksonville area facility. This role requires operating lift equipment after obtaining the CDL/permit and maintaining and inspecting specialized machinery.

The successful candidate will have two years of relevant experience or vocational training, a valid Class E license, and the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with air brakes

Qualifications

Requires two years of experience in maintenance/repair of buildings, highways or bridges, or VOC/technical training (720 classroom hours may substitute).
Valid Class E driver license at hire; CDL Class B permit required within 60 days and license with air brakes within 10 months.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on bridges and ancillary structures.
Operate lift equipment when CDL permits are obtained and maintain equipment.
Plan and organize work; direct and train assistants on maintenance tasks.
Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
