Job summary

State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on bridges and related structures at our Jacksonville area facility. This role requires operating lift equipment after obtaining the CDL/permit and maintaining and inspecting specialized machinery.

The successful candidate will have two years of relevant experience or vocational training, a valid Class E license, and the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with air brakes

Qualifications

• Requires two years of experience in maintenance/repair of buildings, highways or bridges, or VOC/technical training (720 classroom hours may substitute).
• Valid Class E driver license at hire; CDL Class B permit required within 60 days and license with air brakes within 10 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on bridges and ancillary structures.
• Operate lift equipment when CDL permits are obtained and maintain equipment.
• Plan and organize work; direct and train assistants on maintenance tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
