Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker II (S) to perform heavy bridge maintenance and related tasks in Alamance County. Work includes pipe installation, erosion control, trenching, welding, and operation of heavy equipment in active traffic.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and three years of related equipment experience; a CDL (Class A) with Tanker endorsement is preferred or must be obtained within 360 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years of experience operating equipment directly related to the area of specialization.
• CDL or ability to obtain CDL within 360 days of hire.
• Pre-employment drug testing is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment for bridge maintenance and construction tasks.
• Install pipes and erosion control devices; perform trenching, shoring, and concrete work.
• Assist with flagging, traffic control, and work in high traffic environments.
