Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, District 9 seeks a Bridge Maintenance Coordinator to lead seasonal bridge projects and coordinate county repairs. You’ll guide crews, plan programs, and ensure safety and efficiency across multiple counties in a dynamic, public-facing role.

You will supervise staff, manage materials, interpret structural plans, and respond to emergencies while coordinating with engineering units.

Qualifications

• Three years as a Highway Foreman 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) or
• Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Program Planning: Develop county bridge repair programs, analyze needs, and prepare project lists and estimates
• Project Coordination: Work with engineers, crews, and agencies to obtain permits, schedule work and secure required materials
• Field Oversight: Inspect repair work, interpret structural plans, and supervise complex construction activities
• Emergency Response: Ensure prompt handling of urgent bridge repairs and support crews during critical situations
• Material Management: Track salvaged materials, monitor inventory, and arrange transfers across counties
• Staff Supervision: Direct building maintenance personnel and promote safe and efficient work practices
