Position Overview

Responsibilities

1. Assist with technical duties in bridge inspections, including safety assessments and structural evaluations.
2. Inspect structural components such as concrete footings, steel beams, and timber structures.
3. Assess bridge features like expansion devices and safety parapets for damage, wear, and corrosion.
4. Document findings, prepare inspection reports, and take photographs.
5. Support underwater, crane, and deck inspections, maintaining accurate records.
6. Ensure compliance with FHWA coding requirements and maintain documentation for all structures.
7. Engage with stakeholders, including department staff, agencies, legislators, and the public.
8. Maintain inspection equipment and adhere to a biennial inspection cycle.

Work Schedule & Additional Info

• Full-time, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Potential for part-time telework with required high-speed internet and approved location in Pennsylvania.
• Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year as an Engineering Technician, or two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician, or three years in highway/bridge work, or related experience with relevant education.
• Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
