Join to apply for the Construction Inspector role at RK&K

RK&K is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors, Supervisors, and Managers (TCI, TCIS, TCM) for projects throughout South Central Pennsylvania, including PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal highway and bridge projects. This is a field position primarily based at construction sites within Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties in PennDOT District 8.

Ideal candidates will have at least two (2) years of transportation construction inspection experience or at least four (4) years of construction industry experience, preferably in heavy highway/bridge construction. Related experience such as military or surveyor work is also considered.

Essential Functions
  • Work on roadway and bridge projects within the regional geographic area
  • Oversee contractor’s quality control operations
  • Perform quality assurance sampling and testing
  • Complete daily sampling and testing reports
  • Prepare daily inspection reports (PSA’s or IDR’s)
  • Maintain daily communication with clients, contractors, and field personnel
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a PennDOT Technical Assistant
  • Or two (2) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience
  • Or four (4) years of highway or bridge construction, inspection, or design experience
  • Or possession of a Transportation Technology Construction Inspection certification approved by the Department
  • Or a Bachelor of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field
  • Or an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Or a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Or an active Professional Engineer (PE) license
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • NICET Highway Construction Inspection Level 2 or higher
  • NECEPT Asphalt/Bituminous Field Testing Technician Certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
  • Experience with PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC
  • Experience performing field inspections for roadway and bridge projects
  • Proficiency with electronic tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to navigate construction sites in various terrains and weather conditions
  • Willingness to work day and/or night shifts as required
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License
  • Own a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license
