Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Bridge Inspector to join our South Carolina team. The role involves on-site bridge inspections and some office engineering (rating, rehab/repair design, CADD) per NBIS standards.

The position supports the HDR national inspection program and may be based in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Fort Mill. You will perform inspections, prepare reports, and assist with load rating analyses, rehabilitation design, and coordination with clients and subcontractors while

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in bridge/structural inspection or rating.
• Completion of NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training.
• Experience with SCDOT bridge inspections per BIGD and load ratings per LRGD.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Participate in bridge inspections, develop inspection reports, and perform structural load calculations.
• Work in a team environment and independently while expanding engineering knowledge and experience.
• Support HDR's national inspection program on occasion.
• Perform load rating analyses using BrR or similar software.
• Assist with bridge rehabilitation and design efforts.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors and railroads to meet deadlines.
• Perform other duties as needed.
