Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc., a leader in the transportation, marine, construction, and land development industries, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bridge Inspection Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland.

Typical duties include providing technical information to project managers, reviewing design issues, performing engineering computations, and preparing plans. Field work is required, with potential nights/weekends, and relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering and a minimum of 2 years’ experience or equivalent.
• Experience in inspection and/or design of bridges, roadways, marinas, ports, or rail facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical information to project managers to ensure compliance with standards and design instructions.
• Review, analyze, and recommend solutions for field and design issues.
• Perform engineering computations and prepare plans or reports.
• Use engineering software to prepare documents and drawings.
• Supervise entry-level staff and coordinate field work, including nights/weekends when needed.
• Attend meetings and participate in safety-oriented activities.

Collins Engineers, Inc., a leader in the transportation, marine, construction, and land development industries, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bridge Inspection Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical engineering information to project manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
• Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on field and/or design issues.
• Independently performs moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Keeps project manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
• Is active in technical societies.
• Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion.
• Has limited communication with clients.
• Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Direct and supervise the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
• Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
• Field work required, which could include nights and weekends.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 2 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof.
• Experience in the inspection and/or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required.
