Job description

Join to apply for the Bridge Inspection Team Leader role at Garver.

Garver’s Transportation Design Center, an integrated team focused on delivering bridge projects, inspections, and load ratings, is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader for our Houston, TX office. A remote or hybrid remote work arrangement is negotiable. This role involves working with engineers, designers, and technicians to provide technical expertise for inspections and reports.

The Bridge Inspection Team Leader will primarily perform SNBI bridge inspection tasks, including field inspections and related office work, with travel across Texas and occasionally other states. Opportunities may also include load rating and bridge rehabilitation tasks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Performing routine bridge and culvert inspections to SNBI and state standards
• Coordinating site visits
• Assisting with underwater inspections
• Documenting inspections per company procedures
• Uploading inspection files daily
• Data entry for bridge inspections
• Field work involving physical activity and working at heights
• Performing NSTM inspections

As experience with Garver’s practices grows, opportunities for project and staff management may develop.

Experience Requirements:

• Completion of NHI Course No. 130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
• 5-10+ years of related experience
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Office

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• NHI Course No. 130078 (Fracture Critical Techniques for Steel Bridges)
• NHI Course No. 130091 (Underwater Bridge Inspection)
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Experience with InspectX or similar asset management software
• Experience with MicroStation
• Experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software
• Current TxDOT Precertification or ability to obtain it quickly
