The role blends fieldwork with in-office tasks and remote coordination, requiring a civil engineering degree, a valid license, and 5+ years of experience. A leadership mindset and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a US institution.
• IDOT approved Team Leader or Program Manager.
• FHWA-approved training course (e.g., NHI 130055 or 130056).
• Basic understanding of structural engineering principles.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Familiarity with tablet technology for project documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team player mindset.
• Good to great organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspection teams providing technical and structural inspection services according to ISTHA, IDOT, and AASHTO standards
• Oversee structural inspection of Illinois Tollway assets including bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, sightscreen walls, and overhead sign structures
• Develop basic repair scopes and learn to use the Asset Management System software
• Assist in basic design reviews, bridge calculations, and updating inspection manuals
• Aid in preparing annual maintenance and insurance reports
