Job summary

GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer/Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Transportation group in Meriden, CT. This hybrid role offers opportunities to lead safety inspections of bridges and tunnels, leverage NBIS qualifications, and guide teams on complex projects in resilient, multimodal transportation design.

The candidate will supervise inspection teams, coordinate with owners and agencies, and travel as needed to support national practice needs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or similar.
• NBIS qualification as bridge or tunnel inspection team leader required.
• Completion of FHWA BIRM training (NHI 130055) with current refreshers.
• 5+ years in complex bridge safety inspection assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety inspections and write reports on structural conditions.
• Lead in-depth inspections using NDT methods, climbing or mechanized access.
• Coordinate inspection schedules, traffic control, and logistics with agencies.
• Mentor and supervise staff; provide staffing input to supervisor.
• Travel may be required to support national practice needs.
