Job summary

Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Engineer to oversee statewide bridge inspections, data collection, and reporting using AssetWise software. The role focuses on identifying deficiencies, capturing photos, and preparing repair recommendations under standards like 23 CFR 650.

The incumbent will develop schedules for annual inspections and perform load ratings and scour analysis with strong technical and teamwork skills, under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a Professional Engineer with at least two years of independent design and engineering experience.
• Licensure issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
• Experience overseeing complex engineering projects with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bridges statewide in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (23 CFR 650).
• Collect element level data and prepare reports using AssetWise software.
• Identify bridge deficiencies and photograph, document, and submit repair recommendations.
• Develop schedules and strategies for annual inspection workloads.
• Perform structural load ratings and scour analysis.
