The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking a Bridge Inspection Crew Member at entry, intermediate, or senior levels in Jefferson City, MO. The role involves under- supervision bridge inspections, report prep, traffic control setup, and equipment maintenance, with travel across Missouri.

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Passing grade on the CDL written exam required prior to hire date; must pass the driving portion with tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions (Class B), and interstate status (EI or NI) within 60 days after hire.
• Employee will be required to pass a cardiopulmonary function test yearly, attend training on the use of respirators, and pass a respirator fit test every six months.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

• Operates under-bridge inspection and related equipment to visually examine bridges for cracks, fractures, and deterioration.
• Assists in preparing reports and other documentation related to general and in-depth bridge inspection.
• Sets up traffic control devices such as signs, flags, cones, and arrow boards; performs flagging responsibilities for traffic through work zones.
• Conducts equipment safety checks; performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including monitoring fluids, greasing and oiling parts, cleaning, and making minor repairs.
• Operates vehicles to transport crew, equipment, and materials to job site.

Job Location: Central Office, 910 MoDOT Drive, Jefferson City, MO

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $52,172.40 and a senior starting salary of $56,346.24.

This position is also eligible for a temporary emergency operations adjustment of $3 to $6 per hour, depending on the area of operation, when handling winter/emergency operations activities.

All you need for success:

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET
• A passing grade on the written portion of the commercial driver’s license (CDL) exam is required prior to hire date. Must pass the driving portion of the CDL exam with tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions (Class B), and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]) within 60 days after being hired into this position.
• Employee will be required to pass a cardiopulmonary function test yearly, attend training on the use of respirators, and pass a respirator fit test every six months.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Special Working Conditions:

• Requires continuous, overnight, statewide travel within the state of Missouri Monday through Thursday, leaving Jefferson City Monday morning and returning Thursday (four 10-hour days).
• Requires significant physical stamina and endurance.
• Requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• May require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
