Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Bridge & Hydraulics Engineer to support the Office of Highways and Intermodal Project Implementation in Effingham, IL. You will assist in hydraulic analyses, bridge design reviews, and field investigations to ensure project continuity and compliance with state standards.

The role requires licensure as an Illinois PE or IL Structural Engineer and at least four years in civil engineering, with opportunities for professional growth,

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
• Four years of experience in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of hydraulic, bridge condition, and structure reports and analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with BDE manuals and policies.
• Assist in reviewing hydraulic and bridge designs prepared by consultants and district personnel.
• Perform field investigations and recommend corrective action for hydraulic problems; ensure timely completion of reports and plans.
• Prepare bridge repair and drainage repair plans for the annual district program with accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Document key decisions in report preparation to keep files up to date.
