Job summary

The State of Maine through the Maine Department of Transportation is seeking skilled technical engineering support for bridge maintenance projects. This role involves assisting with plans and estimates for rehabilitation and preservation of bridges, contributing to safe, efficient transportation infrastructure.

The incumbent may review over-limit permits, inspect bridges for safety, and work under general supervision to ensure compliance and quality in field and office settings.

Qualifications

• Education, training, and/or experience in engineering, a technical field, or another related area demonstrating competency in reviewing technical plans, drafting diagrams and reports, collecting data, and analyzing datasets for trends.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical engineering support duties in field and office engineering specialties, including preparing plans and estimates for bridge rehabilitation and preservation projects.
• Review and approve over-limit permits to assure safe passage over and under bridges for extreme loading and dimensions; perform safety inspections of bridges and minor spans.
