Job summary

WSP USA's Florida Bridge Engineering Practice is offering a full-time internship to work from our Miami, Tampa, or Orlando offices. You will collaborate with experienced bridge engineers on transportation projects across Florida and the Southeast, gaining hands-on experience in planning, design, and construction support for bridges.

This temporary internship is part of the 12-week Summer Internship Program starting May 17, 2027.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in accredited Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with Structural focus; graduation Dec 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.
• Interest in Structural/Bridge Engineering with desire to advance skills.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets.
• Actively enrolled in Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Civil Engineering with Structural focus; graduation Dec 2027 or later.
• Experience using CADD software.
• Coursework in structural analysis, reinforced concrete design, steel design, or transportation engineering.
• EIT/FE exam completed or licensure intent.
• Prior internship and campus leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks on transportation projects to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural and Bridge Engineering.
• Assist with engineering studies, field investigations, and design calculations and analysis.
• Learn industry-standard software such as OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and Bluebeam.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
• Perform additional tasks as required.
