Job summary

WSP USA invites motivated students to join our Florida Bridge Engineering Internship program, working out of our Miami, Tampa, or Orlando offices. You will collaborate with experienced bridge engineers on transportation projects across Florida and the Southeast, gaining hands-on experience in planning, design, and construction support of bridges and related structures.

This temporary summer role is open to undergrad or graduate students enrolled in Civil Engineering programs, with a May 17, 2027

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
• Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older; authorization to work in the United States at internship start.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to express ideas effectively to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers on projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and common tools.
• Committed to workplace safety and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks on transportation projects to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural and Bridge Engineering.
• Assist with engineering studies, field investigations, and design calculations and analysis.
• Learn industry‑standard software such as OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and Bluebeam.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
