Job summary

WSP is seeking a Bridge Engineering Department Manager for our Kansas City office. You will lead design and project execution for highway bridge structures across Kansas/Missouri, building a local structural design team with support from a broad regional practice.

You will mentor staff, manage scope, budget and schedules, coordinate with clients, and contribute to proposals and business development while upholding quality and safety standards in a dynamic transportation engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• P.E. registration in Kansas and/or Missouri (or able to obtain).
• 15+ years of experience in structural engineering with emphasis on bridges.
• Strong technical skills in bridge design, roadway, and KDOT/MoDOT standards.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a design team or management role.
• Experience leading design teams and delivering high-quality projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and plan development tasks for highway bridge structures in Kansas/Missouri.
• Maintain project scope, design changes, budget and schedule.
• Mentor and develop staff performing similar work.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders and perform QC/QA reviews.
• Engage with clients to grow business and manage opportunities.
• Oversee technical proposals and lead development of leads and letters of interest.
• Represent WSP at professional meetings and conferences as appropriate.
• Track staff utilization and forecast resources with team leads.
