What you will be doing:

This professional engineering position specializes in the design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures. The AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and of the AASHTO Guide Specifications for LRFD Seismic Bridge Design are used frequently for this work. Additionally, this statewide technical engineering specialist develops and applies bridge engineering techniques, approaches, and procedures. This position may perform federally mandated bridge inspections on an intermittent basis throughout the state ensuring structural adequacy and public safety.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer / Architect 1

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.

Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position.

Special Note:

Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1

Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and two years of professional engineering or architectural experience as an Engineer 1, Architectural Assistant 3 or higher with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

Special Note:

Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b).
