Job summary

Forsgren Associates, Inc. in Idaho seeks a Structural Bridge Engineer to design and analyze transportation structures, including bridges and retaining walls.

You will work under supervision on small to medium projects and coordinate with internal teams and clients, with opportunities for growth into larger, multidisciplinary efforts. The role requires a PE or ability to obtain within 12 months, 5+ years of bridge design experience, and proficiency in analysis software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible structural design experience.
• Experience in concrete, steel, and/or prestressed concrete bridge design is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Familiarity with ITD/LHTAC standards, specifications, and design practices is preferred.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, LPILE, RISA3D, or similar.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and design transportation structures, including preparation of engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Participate in preparation of plans, specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates (PS&E packages).
• Perform bridge load rating.
• Conduct structural modeling and analysis using industry-standard software.
• Prepare engineering reports and technical memoranda.
• Review shop drawings and provide construction-phase engineering support.
• Assist with or lead construction cost estimation and quantity takeoffs.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
• Support projects for Idaho transportation agencies and local clients, including ITD and LHTAC.
