Job summary

Alaska DOT&PF Bridge Design Section in Juneau seeks an Engineer/Architect 1 to perform structural analysis for bridge load ratings and related tasks. The role involves inspections, design and preparation of construction plans, and associated reports.

The incumbent will join a production-oriented team with a focus on safety, growth opportunities, and occasional travel across the state. A valid Alaska driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.
• In Alaska, professional registration is required; the employer will designate which field is needed for the position.
• Persons not registered in Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity within AS 08.48.191(b).

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering analysis and calculations for bridge load ratings and overload permit assessment.
• Complete bridge safety inspections, including routine and in-depth inspections.
• Assist in design and preparation of bridge construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and report tasks.
