Position Overview

The primary focus of the Bridge Engineer will be to serve as the lead engineer on bridge projects, mainly in PA, including planning, analysis, and design of various bridge types, from conventional to innovative.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform structural load calculations and develop bridge plans and specifications.
• Oversee geometric layout and quantity development.
• Review design calculations, cost estimates, and plan development produced by other engineers.
• Work on projects involving precast concrete girder (pre-stressed and/or post-tensioned) and steel plate or steel box girders for highway, waterway, and rail projects.
• Apply strong technical skills in engineering analysis and design, demonstrating leadership on projects.
• Serve as a Technical Specialist or Task Leader on large projects and supervise junior engineers.
• Prepare reports and interact regularly with clients.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• EIT certification required; PE preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience in bridge design.
• Experience across all aspects of bridge projects.
• Bridge inspection experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, structural analysis software (e.g., LARSA, SAP), structural design software (e.g., LEAP, BDS, PCA Col), and PennDOT Design Software.
• Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation is preferred; OpenBridge Designer (OBD) experience is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.
