Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, is seeking a full-time bridge engineer for our South Jordan, Utah office. You will design and detail railroad and highway structures and lead the structural design of projects while mentoring junior staff.

Able to communicate with clients and internal teams, coordinate with other offices, and contribute to project procurement and construction materials. Licensed PE or eligibility within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited school (M.S. a plus).
• 7+ years in structural engineering design for bridges and transportation structures; 10+ years preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the state or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience in plan development, analysis and design calculations, quality control of highway/railroad structures, and familiarity with AASHTO/AREMA.

Responsibilities

• Design and detailing railroad and highway structures, including reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, earth retaining systems, and drainage structures.
• Lead structural design of projects and mentor entry-level staff in design and production of construction drawings.
• Communicate effectively with clients and senior staff; provide reports and updates; collaborate with other offices and Structure Bridge groups.
• Work in a team environment with engineers from multiple disciplines and locations; meet with clients and pursue work.

Wilson & Company is seeking a full-time bridge (structures) engineer to support our bridge team in our South Jordan Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural design projects and performing complex planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who enjoys being part of a team performing office and fieldwork.

Role And Responsibilities

Regular job duties include design and detailing railroad and highway structures, including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, earth retaining systems, and drainage structures. The candidate must perform complex engineering tasks accurately, extract engineering information from CAD drawings, and complete a variety of assignments such as developing drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

In addition to the tasks listed, the candidate will be expected to lead the structural design of projects and mentor entry-level staff in the design and production of construction drawings. Communication is key for this position. The candidate will need to communicate effectively to direct entry-level staff and provide reports and updates to senior-level staff and clients collaborating with other offices and Structure Bridge groups. The candidate will need to work in a team environment with engineers from a multitude of disciplines and locations. Available to meet with clients and pursue work.

Required Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's degree is a plus) from an ABET accredited school.
• 7+ years of experience in structural engineering design including bridge, retaining wall and other transportation structures; the ideal candidate having 10 or more years of experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience in plan development, analysis and design calculations, quality control of highway structures and/or railroad structures, and familiarity with AASHTO and/or AREMA.
• Experience in using software like Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX, MIDAS, Risa, Lpile, Mathcad and other related engineering software to design structural elements of bridges.

102,000 - 135,000 (Depending on Experience)
