Job summary

URC Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is looking for a full-time bridge engineer to join our team in South Jordan, Utah. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural design, particularly in transportation projects, and will lead various projects while mentoring junior staff.

Job description

Wilson & Company is seeking a full‑time bridge (structures) engineer to support our bridge team in our South Jordan Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural design projects and performing complex planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail railroad and highway structures, including reinforced concrete, pre‑stressed concrete, steel, earth‑retaining systems, and drainage structures.
• Perform complex engineering tasks accurately, extract engineering information from CAD drawings, and develop drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
• Lead the structural design of projects and mentor entry‑level staff in the design and production of construction drawings.
• Communicate effectively with entry‑level staff, senior‑level staff, and clients; provide reports and updates to senior‑level staff and clients collaborating with other offices and Structure Bridge groups.
• Work in a team environment with engineers from a multitude of disciplines and locations.
• Be available to meet with clients and pursue work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's degree is a plus) from an ABET‑accredited school.
• 7+ years of experience in structural engineering design including bridge, retaining wall and other transportation structures; the ideal candidate having 10 or more years of experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience in plan development, analysis and design calculations, quality control of highway structures and/or railroad structures, and familiarity with AASHTO and/or AREMA.
• Experience using software such as Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX, MIDAS, RISSA, LPILE, Mathcad and other related engineering software to design structural elements of bridges.
