Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Orlando, Florida is seeking an experienced Bridge Designer to join our Structures team. You will work on bridges and related structural design projects across public and private sectors, preparing plans, specs, and estimates with OpenRoads, MicroStation, and OpenBridges.

The role requires a hands-on engineer with 8+ years of bridge design experience, strong communication, and the ability to mentor others.

  • 8+ years of Bridge Design experience.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Willingness to mentor and teach others.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced Bridge Designer to join our Structures team in Orlando, Florida (FL)!

Responsibilities
  • You will have the opportunity to work on bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects throughout the city
  • Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients using OpenRoads, Microstation, and/or OpenBridges
  • The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintains drawing database
  • Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant Bridge Design experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Willingness to mentor and teach others
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
