Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Bridge and Structural Design Engineer (Engineer 3–5) to support projects through design, preservation, load rating, and technical reviews. Positions located in East Baton Rouge Parish report to Engineer 6, with entry-level SERs and additional compensation possible for highly qualified applicants.

Licensure as a professional engineer is required, with consideration for non-Lousiana licensure upon eligibility.

Qualifications

Experience with bridge and structural design for transportation projects.
Ability to review plans, calculations, specs, and structural details.
Familiarity with bridge load ratings and preservation activities.

Responsibilities

Assists with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
Reviews or prepares plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
Performs or assists with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
Coordinates with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other internal or external partners.
Reviews bridge-related project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
Assists with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
