Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Bridge Design Intern for Summer 2027 in Grand Rapids, MI (or Farmington Hills). The internship supports the Transportation team in designing roads and civil projects for the DOT.

You will create AutoCAD/OpenRoads Designer drawings and assist engineers on calculations and documentation. Ideal candidates are enrolled in Civil Engineering, eager to learn, with good communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Student currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Demonstrates eagerness to learn and contribute to projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
• Previous internship or DOT project experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create design drawings using AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer.
• Support engineers with calculations and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices.
• Participate in solving real engineering challenges and managing project deliverables.
