Job summary

Michael Baker International’s Bridge team seeks a Bridge Design Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of bridge projects across Montana and the Western United States. You will perform preliminary analysis through final design and construction support, working with experienced engineers and project managers.

This role emphasizes work-life balance with local projects, flexibility to minimize travel, and opportunities to advance to Project Manager or Technical Expert while pursuing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 6+ years of bridge or transportation structural engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD design specifications.
• Experience with structural analysis software: Midas, LARSA, SAP2000.
• Familiarity with MDT standards; Montana PE license required.
• Ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity in Western states.

Responsibilities

• Support bridge design efforts for steel and concrete bridges.
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations per AASHTO LRFD.
• Assist in development of PS&E.
• Use structural analysis and design software such as Midas, LARSA, or SAP2000.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review project deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Participate in project meetings and technical discussions.
• Provide construction support, including RFIs and review of shop drawings.
• Stay current with industry standards and emerging technologies.
