Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) seeks a Bridge Maintenance Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) to ensure bridges and other structures remain safe for the traveling public. You will review NBIS reports, perform field or remote evaluations, and oversee repairs of deficient bridges statewide.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with structural design courses.
• PE license in Montana or eligibility via comity.
• NBIS Team Leader training or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
• Any combination of related work experience and education equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate NBIS bridge inspection reports and assess structural vulnerability.
• Perform field assessments or remote evaluations and recommend repair strategies.
• Oversee maintenance/repair of deficient bridges statewide.
