Job summary

HDR in Lexington, KY is seeking a Bridge Coordinator/EIT to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques for diverse bridge designs, including steel and concrete systems, box culverts, and retaining walls. The role supports geometric layout, quantity development, and structural analysis with specialized software.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree and an EIT certificate (or progress toward it); experience with major design packages and a collaborative, employee-owned culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to structural engineering.
• Familiarity with LEAP/CSiBridge and the listed design software.
• Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and Autodesk Civil3D/InfraWorks experience.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• EIT certification or progress toward it; design coordinator path for non-EIT candidates.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in bridge design.
• Work on projects including steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental and cable bridges, box culverts, and walls.
• Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometry/layout and quantities.
• Select standard procedures and develop details using specialized software.
• Participate in bridge inspection and support load calculations and layout/quantities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Bridge Coordinator/EIT, we'll count on you to:

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
• Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and retaining wall design for highway and railway projects
• Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
• Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
• Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Experience in bridge design and inspection
• Local candidates
• Experience with common structural analysis and design software (e.g. Microstation, Open Bridge Modeler, LARSA, CSi Bridge, Bentley/Leap Prestressed Beam Design, spColumn, LPile)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
• Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
• Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
