Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Bridge EIT/Coordinator to contribute to shared ownership culture and deliver safe, sustainable transportation solutions.

You will apply structural engineering techniques and support bridge design across steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, and highway projects. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and use software like Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, and OpenBridge Modeler to develop detailed structural layouts and support inspections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Strong computer skills for structural layout and design.

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in bridge designs.
  • Work on projects including bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete), box culvert, sign structures, retaining walls and interchange design for highway projects.
  • Select standard bridge engineering procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software.
  • Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software.
  • Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.

In the role of Bridge EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete,), box culvert, sign structures, retaining walls and interchange design for highway projects
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
  • Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software.
  • Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Structural Engineering

  • Experience in bridge/structural design including deep foundation design and prestressed concrete design
  • Knowledge of Projectwise, BGS, BridgelinkFamiliarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals, guidance, bridge standards, preferred practices and software.
  • Experience using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, Projectwise, MathCAD, Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: BGS, SPColumn, BridgeLink
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
  • Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Strong understanding and hands‑on use of computers for structural layout and design
  • Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
