Job summary

Thimble Alterations is seeking independent contractors in California to perform alterations on bridal and formalwear, including gowns and bridesmaid dresses, with a focus on precision and client communication.

You will conduct fittings, take measurements, and deliver finished garments while managing your own schedule and workspace. This platform-based role offers flexibility, access to local client requests, and the opportunity to build repeat clientele.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations.
• Strong garment construction knowledge and precision measuring.
• Machine and hand sewing proficiency.
• Professional communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid and mother‑of‑the‑bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice, zippers).
• Work with structured bridal gowns (layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle).
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements and communicate timelines clearly.
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings.
• Handle requests for prom dresses, evening gowns, suits, and other formalwear.
