Job summary

Bell & Evans is seeking a Flock Supervisor to assist the Breeder Manager in raising pullets and cockerels from day of age to 65 weeks, ensuring high-quality hatching egg supply. The role focuses on flock health, vaccination programs, and proper housing and recordkeeping.

You will oversee on-farm activities, coordinate with breeders, and participate in regular field visits to maintain production standards in a hands-on poultry operation.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with Breeder Manager on field activities.
• Complete and submit all paperwork in a timely manner (service reports, vaccine billing, MTech data).
• Perform NPIP and movement blood tests.
• Obtain samples for testing per Breeder Manager schedule (feed, litter, swabs).
• Perform on-farm necropsies as needed and prescribe remedies per policy/guidelines.
• Submit birds to diagnostic lab for necropsy in coordination with Breeder Manager.
• Administer water and spray vaccinations to flocks; monitor external vaccination crews.
• Be present at all flock placements; assist in pullet/cockerel placement and day-of-delivery spray vaccination.
• Weigh pullets and cockerels weekly; supervise feed amounts and ensure weight goals.
• Oversee all breeder house activities including housing setup and movement between houses.
• Ensure cleaning and disinfecting of contracted premises is effective.
• Visit growers weekly to supervise flock development and housing conditions.
• Manage egg pack, hatching egg quality assurance, and spiking movement in breeder houses.
• Evaluate situations independently and communicate relevant issues to Breeder Manager.
