Job summary

Aviagen is seeking an Experienced Assistant Production Manager to assist the breeder manager in directing and coordinating breeding operations to ensure delivery of quality product.

You will oversee breeder operations, ensure hatch eggs are available for hatcheries, manage breeder producer relationships, implement production programs, and lead training for Breeder Representatives and Technicians. Strong leadership and compliance with company policies are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Poultry Science or Agricultural Science or related field.
• 4 years equivalent education and experience in poultry breeder operations and supervision.
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and ownership of projects.
• Ability to confront and manage through conflict situations with employees and contractors.
• Advanced poultry science knowledge.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Demonstrated success building effective teams with proven ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization.
• Highly effective interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate with all levels within organization.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of math functions and skills.
• Solid computer skills particularly with MS Office programs.
• Advanced organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Breeder Producer relationships and all goods and services associated with their needs.
• Implement and monitor all pullet and breeder production programs.
• Ensure the training and development of all Breeder Representatives and Technicians.
• Provide communication and direction for contract growers.
• Monitor development of contract growers.
• Monitor pullet placements, moves, vaccinations and ensure hatch egg numbers.
• Provide performance and cost numbers to accounting and management.
• Monitor pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures.
• Maintain pullet growing agreements and breeder flock agreements.
• Lead and manage in a way consistent with company’s values and strategic objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations (i.e. Animal Welfare, Safety, Environmental, etc.)

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years’ poultry breeder operational experience
• Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience within a similar environment
• Advanced poultry science knowledge
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and ownership of projects
